Emma is a GP partner in East London and brings crucial expertise and lived experience of working within the constraints of general practice – a vital perspective for the Board given that 90% of the UK population interact with GP services every year. She has been a trustee of UKHACC for the past three years and has an in-depth understanding of how the board functions and is committed to supporting the organisation to develop in the future.
Emma has held several climate leadership roles in addition to her role as a GP partner and is a committed participant within the Greener Practice Network. She has extensive experience of climate relevant work including as net zero lead for NHS North-East London ICB and the London Region. She is the climate and sustainability lead for the Royal College General Practitioners North-East London Faculty. Her own practice achieved the prestigious platinum award in the RCGP/Greener Practice Green Impact for Health Toolkit in 2025. She was part of the first cohort to complete the NHS Leadership Academy ‘Sustainability Leadership Course for Greener Health and Care’ in 2023.
Emma said: “In a summer of heatwaves, wildfires and now threats of food shortages, there has never been a more important time for UKHACC. I am delighted to build on my three years of experience as a trustee to support the amazing small team.”
Dr Sandy Mather has been a Co-Chair of the Alliance since September 2025, having served as a trustee for the previous two years. Since taking on the role, she has led crucial work to develop a strategic framework, underpinned by an agreed set of organisational values. Drawing on her expertise of leading the Intensive Care Society to net zero as CEO, she has been a tireless advocate for the work of the Alliance and support for organisations seeking to take meaningful action in the fight against climate change.
Commenting on her retirement from UKHACC, Sandy said “After 3 years as a UKHACC trustee including the last year as Co-Chair I’m standing down to focus more time on my Executive Coaching and Leadership work (and also to enjoy more of my semi-retirement!) It has been a privilege to Co-Chair UKHACC alongside Hugh Montgomery and to partner with our members to deliver a new strategy and even more impact. I am delighted to be handing over to the amazing Emma Radcliffe who will be a super Deputy Chair to Hugh Montgomery’s Chair, working alongside our super new Director Charlie Brown.”
