UKHACC welcomes the signing of COP28 Declaration on Climate and Health

Endorsed by 123 countries on first ever health day on 3rd December 2023.

At the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) in the UAE, the first-ever Declaration on Climate and Health was endorsed by 123 countries. This is a remarkable achievement as this has paved the way for the ‘Health in All Policies’ approach in climate negotiations as the climate emergency is indeed a health emergency. The $1 billion funding committed to climate and health action will be crucial in advancing equitable and healthy climate action. The UK Health Alliance on Climate Change welcomes these announcements. 

However, at the same time, we must not continue to let health be at the mercy of fossil fuels and we continue to call for a just phase-out of fossil fuels in week 2 of the climate dialogue in Dubai.
